Skinning Ladies' Heads For Real?

Weird Fact #1:

Some women were 'skinning their heads' on 19th May 2007 @ the Fluid Bar and lounge, Far East Square, 7.30pm.

Weird Fact #2:
These women were caught smiling with happiness while strudding their balded images around Bishan Junction 8 Mall.

Weird Fact #3:
Young Girls had their ponytails chopped - literally half, while echoing their laughters against halls of praises.

What's Your Guess???
You think:
(A) a form of Feminist Outrage/ Protest Exercise against Something?
(B) a feminst PR /advertisement by retailer?

Think Again:

The real purpose is:
"To raise money (S$250,000) and awareness for the Children's Cancer Foundation"

'Dare-to-Bare' Vs 'Bare-to-Live'
Reality of going bald is not easy for women and girls, even a shock for the bravest women.

Think again. In fact, the hardest person to bare, would be the cancer-striken kids under-going chemo treatment and painstakingly witnessing her own's hair falling days without much choice.

Who's idea was it anyway?
It's by Shear Inspiration. Mainly made up of expatriates living in Singapore, who are hoping to raise $250,000 in order to fund one of two bone marrow transplant rooms the Children's Cancer Foundation will be setting up at the KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

Cool, you think. Now, ASK Yourself :
Would I (or allow your better half if you are her dad/ brother/ boyfriend/ husband) dare to dive into this purpose-driven event?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My take:
Honestly...for me, I know I am not that capable to leap into hairless days (given that I still have to face customers, acquaintances daily).

Perhaps, the best I could envisage my courage to run wild is to join the 'Childrens Extravaganza - children helping children', partial-cut my pony hair as locks for love and give it to a non-profit organisation to make wigs for children with hair loss (because of chemotheraphy treatment during cancer fight phase). This was held on 18 May for children helping children. (I am too tall to qualify as children).
Sheepishly, I would choose to donate money or volunteer for similar cause, but never brave enough to do in the same style as these courageous women have had empowered themselves.

What can I say. Kudos to 10-20 females - and still counting.

Same, I will not go bald. I will look like alien. Big head and small body...I will donate instead.
